belt trouble

i changed my setup over to 150 about a month ago, and i installed the hpi 150mm belt, well i just got around to messing with it today(running it around) and the belt has about an inch of movement before the slack is out of it enough to grip the rear diff, is there anything i can do to fix it?

Belt issues

Questions and (hopefully) some answers:

Are you using the standard chassis?
When I changed from the standard chassis to the Team Orion chassis I noticed more slack on the belt.

How did you install the belt?
When installing the belt, it's better to fit it around the rear pulley gear first while the belt is slack, the next step is to remove the front diff assembly, fit the belt around the front pulley gear then refit the front diff assembly back into the bulkhead.
If you install the belt on the front-diff assembly first, then force the belt over the rear pulley gear by turning the rear axle, this method of installation will cause the belt to stretch

Lastly, a little slack does no harm and it will not affect the performance at all, where a tight belt (that is too tight) will.
As long as the belt is not slipping, you have [b]nothing[/u] to worry about.

its very easy to tell when its slipping, slipping belts make a horrendous noise, and the car will drive all weird.

Found out the hard way my front belt tensioner on my nitro rs4 had to be tightened when I dropped the 1.25hp fantom .15 engine in it, lol
