Airplane motor in a micro?

would it be possible to put the engine from a Zagi 400-x into a micro, and run the 8 cells it runs? would be extremely fast, though the motor might burn up

I don't see why not. AkintoDan(sp) has been running a 400 for a while now. Works pretty well I hear.

speed 300 - airplane motor

I run a multiplex 400 sized motor in my micro on 8 cells, it runs a whole snotload cooler than my 6 cell speed 300 setup did!

When I was looking into 400 motors, I found nearly 20 different manufacturers of them. Granted most of them are probably relabeled Mabuchi motors out of China, but I think they may all be unique in their own regard. 400 motors can be found in the airplane section of your LHS and are about as common as 540 motors. Usually range from $10.00-$15.00. The RPM and torque will vary depending on voltage ratings. 4.8V being the fastest least powerful (speed 300 arena) and the 7.2V being the slowest but most powerful motor. Gear the car accordingly and any setup will work. I like my 400 and prob would never go back to a 280/300 sized cuz they just don't last long enough. Like Blind said, 400's run COOOL.

do we need to do any modification to get the 400 size motor? Or it just drop in type using the speed300 motor mount? Please tell me more on this motor.

Currently im running speed300 + 14T pinion + 8.4v brick pack backed with MC230CR. Whats the difference between 4.8v and 7.2v? If i use the 4.8v type motor, should i reduced the cells or i can use the 8.4v or 9.6v pack? Thanks in advanced.

you have 3 small capacitors / the capicitor plate on the back of the motor?

I also noticed my spd 300 would make my car glitch at full throttle from a standstill, I fixed that by putting a large capacitor on the speed control, but after I switched to 7 cells I didn't need it anymore, and now with 8 cells I havent had one glitch, even when the battery is dumped.

that sounds more like a radio problem than a speed control issue to me.

does your antenna on the car touch ANYTHING other than the antenna tube? Is the receiver mounted as far from the motor as possible? Are the batteries in the transmitter brand new/just charged?

glitching from a dead stop only, but no glitching once up to speed is caused by an issue with capacitors/voltage to the motor pulling voltage away from the receiver/steering servo.

If the car is constantly glitchy, its a radio/receiver problem.

Not to be a bitch, but put your advertisements in the Micro Market forum, not and the end of every thread you find even remotely relating to your products.
*edit*
And by the way - Turbos kick ass.

Question spd 300 glitch

I too have the speed 300 radio glitch under full throttle. I'm only running four cells, so would adding that extra cell help a lot to ensure that the glitches don't happen or am I just being a total dumbass?

ive replaced the radio system 3 times already with 3 different radios, it was just as glitchy with the stock motor and the 5 cell packs, infact thats why i went to the BB i have run my micro 1 time for about 2 seconds which is how long it took it to go from stopped to full throttle to peices in the next room after making a hole in a sheetrock wall
