Micro RS4 Rally ideas...
This is a thread that I'm hoping will eventually develop into something that will lead to being able to run an RS4 on an off-road rally course.
Problems:
- Suspension travel (front and rear)
- Belt exposed (a guard would need to be made, out of lexan or something)
- Rear diff & gears exposed... they'd need a cover as well.
- 300 size motor, with enough torque to get the wheels spinning to induce dirt drifts...
- "Rally" style tyres will be needed. Any ideas?
Maybe a new chassis would be in the order... I'm not sure though. I'll start sketching and thinking during my classes this week. If anyone has any ideas, i'm game to hear them.
OH, and a definite requirement would be either the WRX chassis from RADmotorsport, or the 206 shell that I saw floating around earlier... who makes it?

on the front youd probably need to mill a custom front end for custom lower a arms to increase suspention travel and ride height. then something on the rear end (think taimya). with time and lexan you could enclose the belt and maybe get a bigger belt and put bearings to raise up the belt

just rebuild it from the ground up with aluminum, enclose the motor, belt, diffs, all of that stuff in aluminum that could clip to the body on the sides to help keep dirt out, but you would need beefy shocks and wider/longer front and rear ends

Wait a sec... why not use a pan chassis? That would keep most of the car protected, and maybe I can modify the rear end to have some kind of suspension. *think think think*

I have a Super Nitro Rally...and youll definetly need a new chassis...no carbon fibre crap will sustain the stress...also some tires with knobbs, prolly have to have em custom made...custom made suspension arms cuz nobody is gonna make some for mini, just make them out of wood, preferably oak or pine, and have em almsot a 45 degree angle...then the motor, cover it with some homeade design is all i can really suggest, try making it out of a plastic water bottle or summin and just tape it on every time, althought this wont let your engine cool i dunno how to fix that, but if you put your mind to an idea youll figure it out...

#73407 is the part that needs to be modified to allow more suspension travel.
The lower arms need to be lowered towards the ground to heighten the suspension...
Does anyone have a spare one of these that they'd be willing to part with for the better good of off-road wantin' micros everywhere?

Okay, I'm interested.
why start with a short belt from the motor and add a couple of smaller ones to reach the differentials?
then you would only have the two small belts exposed and rigging small tensioners would not be to hard.
Let me work on this a little bit, I might have some better ideas for you.
but beware, most of the stock chassis will have to be replaced.
buy the way, this could be lengthened to become an off road truck (like a CORE pro2 or pro4 type truck) as well

the ARM pan was the chassis of choice, considering it's practically one big peice, and can be modified to whatever use needed.

Yeah, but I'd rather use the existing belts, rather than redesigning everything.
I basically need to modify the front suspension, and then work out something for the rear.
